Animals’ Angels is on duty at the weekly cattle market in Ciney, Belgium. Animals’ Angels has been inspecting this market for many years during which severe breaches of animal welfare laws have been witnessed and reported to the authorities. Compared to past inspections, the market has become more quiet. Alas, no drinking water is available to the animals, the concrete floor is full of excrements and very slippery, some cattle are too closely tied, one cow has a severely swollen udder, and some farmers hit their animals with sticks. We notice two cattle with broken horns; they don’t get any veterinary treatment, although their wounds bleed heavily.
Animals’ Angels will press the market management and the authorities in charge to put an end to the deficiencies at this market.
